How to clear a hallway and make the exit easier
The hallway is where tomorrow's delay begins. A clear route, paired shoes and bags in known places remove several small searches from the morning without tidying the whole house.

Adult check first. Keep heat, sharp objects, chemicals, broken items, heavy lifting and anything uncertain with a grown-up. Choose jobs that fit the child, the room and today.
The small-job list
Pair the shoes
Match each pair and place it on the rack or against one wall. Put outgrown or ownerless shoes in one separate row.
Hang the coats
Put coats on hooks and move scarves, hats and gloves into their basket.
Empty obvious pocket rubbish
Remove receipts, wrappers and tissues from coat pockets. Leave keys, money and unfamiliar items alone.
Park the bags
Put school, work and activity bags on their hooks or in one agreed row.
Return items to their rooms
Carry anything that clearly belongs elsewhere to that room. One trip per floor is enough.
Clear the door path
Move the final loose items to the side so the front door and main walking route open fully.
If this is still too much
Choose one mission and stop there. Or set a visible five-minute timer and stop when it rings. The deal only works if stopping really is allowed. Read how to run a short timed tidy, or why the big version is not a useful task.
