How to reset a desk for homework or creative work
A desk does not need to look empty. It needs one clear working patch and a known place for the things used most often. Preserve active work before moving anything else.

Adult check first. Keep heat, sharp objects, chemicals, broken items, heavy lifting and anything uncertain with a grown-up. Choose jobs that fit the child, the room and today.

Save the active work
Put the current drawing, homework or model in one clearly marked tray so it is not tidied away by accident.
Bin scraps and empty packaging
Throw away obvious rubbish. Keep notes, receipts and anything with writing in a review pile.
Stack loose papers
Make one flat paper pile or place papers in an inbox tray. Filing can be a different mission.
Put pens in one pot
Collect pens, pencils and markers into one holder. Do not test every pen today.
Park safe cables
Coil loose charging leads beside their device. Leave damaged plugs, sockets and mains cables for an adult.
Clear one writing space
Make a patch large enough for an open book and one sheet of paper. That is the finish line.
