How to tidy a playroom without sorting every toy
Playrooms become impossible when every toy is treated as a separate decision. Use broad containers, protect anything still being built and clear one category at a time.

Adult check first. Keep heat, sharp objects, chemicals, broken items, heavy lifting and anything uncertain with a grown-up. Choose jobs that fit the child, the room and today.
The small-job list
Save the current build
Move the Lego model, train track or drawing that is still in progress to one safe surface.
Box the soft toys
Put every soft toy into one basket or onto one shelf. Do not arrange them individually.
Collect the building pieces
Sweep loose bricks, tiles and construction pieces into their main box. Colour sorting is optional and not today.
Stack games and puzzles
Put lids on boxes, match obvious loose pieces and stack the boxes on one shelf.
Clear the drawing table
Put pens in one pot, paper in one pile and scraps in recycling.
Make a clear floor path
Move the last loose items into one temporary basket so there is a safe route across the room.
